In her message, Hartridge details a sweet account of tasting a chunk of smoothly mixed sugar, butter, and milk or what we now know as fudge. Although the basic recipe has been upgraded for added flavor, like bits of walnuts found in this 12-piece display, the experience is just as sweet as it was back in 1866.
