Early in the 1950s, confectioners found themselves faced with a candy dilemma –- there were too many red fruits on the market, and consumers were finding it challenging to distinguish between the variety of red sweets available. After a serious brainstorming session, candy makers turned to a rarer fruit for inspiration –- the Whitebark raspberry. This fruit provided a bluish hue and tangy flavor... and blue raspberry candy was born.
