Sold in many a fish and chips shop, northern lads and lasses from the UK and Scotland were the first patrons to partake of deep fried candy bars. It took nearly 10 years for a deep fried Snickers recipe to jump the pond from Scotland to US soil, but when it finally did no American state fair was ever the same. If you want to try one (and trust us--you should), you must first impale an unwrapped candy bar with a Popsicle stick. Once frozen solid, dip the bar in a batch of prepared funnel cake batter and fry it in hot oil until it turns golden brown. If you've made it this far, you should opt to either sprinkle the fruits of your labor with powdered sugar or drizzle some caramel sauce on top to round out the experience with the utmost in sugar awesomeness. Adventurous sweet tooths will want to swap out the traditional Snickers bar in this recipe for the Snickers Triple Chocolate variety just to change things up a bit. Snickers 3X Chocolate has the same creamy nougat, chewy caramel and fresh peanuts covered in rich milk chocolate but with the added benefit of being all chocolate, all the time. In the 3X iteration, the folks at Snickers have injected deep chocolate notes into both their caramel and nougat vats before piling sweet layers on top of each other one by one and bathing each bar in yummy milk chocolate. If you think all that chocolate is just a little too much, think again. As sweet as ever, the 3X bar is just a tad bit richer in taste that its original cousin, and the chocolate interpretation of caramel simply has less of a salty flavor than what you might expect. While Snickers Triple Chocolate might never eclipse the classic Snickers you know and love, this candy's alter ego should not be passed up!
