Bobs Sweet Stripes

History of Bob's Candy

With roots going back to 1919, Bob's Candies, Inc. has been around for more than 100 years. Over the decades, the company has persevered through numerous name changes, a tornado that destroyed the first production facility, and a line of company presidents related to the original founder, Bob McCormack. In 1997, Bob's Sweet Stripes candy was introduced as a line of sugary sweets that became the company's main focus. Included in their new strategy was a rebranding and ramping up production to keep up with demand. The line widened their offering to include a variety of fruit-flavored and peppermint candy.

Bob's Candy Fun Facts

Over the past century, Bob's Candies, Inc. has become the largest candy cane manufacturer in the world and has some pretty cool historical tidbits associated with it. One of the most interesting of all is the use of systems created by NASA for cooling and de-humidifying their candies. Another sweet fact about the creators of our favorite minty treat has to do with how they handled the aftermath of the tornado that swept through Albany, Georgia, completely destroying their facility. Starting from scratch, the company created a candy bar to pay homage to the disaster, calling it Bob's Tornado Bar.
