The Switzer Story
Grandpa Switzer started making licorice in 1888. He'd proudly push carts of his candy along the riverfront in St. Louis, in an area now called Laclede's Landing. The licorice he loved had a rich, bold taste and a soft, chewy texture. While we have added real fruit juice to the Cherry Red, it remains the low fat food it was over 100 years ago.
While many things have changed in the candy business since then, we think grandpa's simple truths apply today:
