The Ultimate Autumn Event Featuring Candy in Festive Fall Colors!
As the fall season approached, Mrs. Rupenheim found herself craving something different. Everything in her house was nice enough, but she was so…bored with all of it. Her annual autumn-themed dinner party was coming up, and she really wanted to re-vamp the entire dining room.
So she called in the help of a local interior decorator extraordinaire, Mr. Jacques Rusoso.
He walked in carrying a poodle and wearing a bright purple scarf and sunglasses.
“Hello.” Mrs. Rupenheim said kindly.
“Bonjour” Jacques responded distractedly, looking around the room. His wife, Judith Rusoso, followed behind him, also wearing sunglasses and even a black beret.
“So basically, I’m just looking to add a little…zing. For my dinner party.”
“A dinner party?”
“Yes. I have an annual autumn dinner party with a few friends. I’ve been doing it for over five years.”
“How…quaint.” Judith quipped. Jacques began talking rapidly as Judith took notes:
“A six foot harvest fountain in the corner; we’ll take out the table and replace it with a series of tree stumps; guests sit on thin leaf-shaped pillows on the floor-“
“My table? But it’s mahogany. No, we should leave the table, I think. I think-“ Jacques waved her away and continued-
“Live squirrels. For a real woodsy feel. They’ll have to be trained not to munch...A living, growing pumpkin patch right in the middle of the kitchen-“ Mrs. Rupenheim could take no more.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Rusoso, but I don’t think this is going to work out.” Jacques crossed his arms, which was awkward with the poodle.
“Come on, Judith. She’s not ready for our vision.” Judith shook her head and walked behind him.”
After they left, Mrs. Rupenheim decided to tackle the project on her own. She went online for ideas, and came upon one that seemed absolutely perfect: fresh, exciting, and oh-so sweet.
After ordering everything and planning out the entire room, she sent out invitations. She decided she would invite Jacques and Judith Rusoso, just to prove there were no hard feelings.
The night had finally arrived, and Mrs. Rupenheim was beyond excited to show off her new living room. One by one, guests arrived. “Oooohs” and “Ahhhs” followed every entrance into the living room.
When Jacques and Judith arrived, she was especially delighted to show off the living room to them. She walked them into the house and waved her hand into the room, as if to say, “Viola!”
Orange licorice twists lined the walls in fun swirls; chocolate covered brownie bits stood proudly in golden leaf-shaped bowls; the deep red tablecloth was lined with caramel-filled chocolate apples. And golden candy coins (Mrs. Rupenheim’s favorite) hung from the ceiling, adding a touch of playful chic.
Jacques was beside himself. He took off his sunglasses, put the poodle down, and took it all in.
“Brilliant!” he cried. “Absolutely, indubitably, brilliant!”
Judith took off her beret and held it to her chest.
“It’s breathtaking.” She agreed.
Mrs. Rupenheim hugged them both.
“I’m so happy you both came!”
“Oh, me too. Me too.” Jacques gushed, grabbing a yellow, leaf-shaped lollipop… “I’ve gotten quite a few ideas from you. You’re the sweetest of décor divas.”
She tried not to blush. |
